Aurora Aksnes, born June 15th 1996 in Stavanger and is known professionally as Aurora sometimes stylized in uppercase in the form of AURORA is an Norwegian artist and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves by Decca Records was released on May 15th, 2015 receiving rave reviews from both music bloggers and the media. Katy Perry's support for her song Runaway in a blog post gave the artist some additional acknowledgement. Make it a day to celebrate her birthday. Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory was of discovering the piano she had in her attic and being fascinated by the sound it could make. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music not to get an income or to pursue hobby but for the sake of growing. For this reason she began to write original compositions. She points to renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as influences as well as an affinity for Bjork's style. Her mom encouraged her to sing her songs in public, not so that she could be famous, but to make others aware of how significant their voices are and how they can contribute to the world. Her first piano lesson was when she was just six and was writing her first song when she was nine. It wasn't until she was 14 that she revealed her plans to her parents. Aurora was not a dream of her childhood. She claims that she enjoys creating songs. She claims that music is her favorite way of feeling something.
